Olympia works with Jorel Lising to create the transcendent music video for "Nothing Wrong"

A highly stylistic set-up serves as Olympia's playground in her music video for "Nothing Wrong" to mark her official artistic debut. And what else can you expect from one of Logiclub's up and coming artists but pure talent and great material, much like the collective's current roster? The track's visual adaptation doesn't include your usual romance equation. Nope, you won't find any leading men charming your socks off here nor are there hysterics or flashbacks of the good old days in sepia or black and white. Instead, what you get are context clues and subtexts of melancholy and longing of a past love. The entire MV plays out like a dream sequence with the throes of it turning into a nightmare.

The track in itself is eerie, transcendent, and dreamy, matched with smooth beats and Olympia's undeniable vocal chops. "Nothing Wrong" is an ode to being trapped in love. Olympia begins the song with much conviction, her trance-like vocals rising over the catchy tune, with the line I won't be your slave again, which descends into a slippery slope in her narrative. She ends with the same line she started with, reassuring herself, but watch the video and see how the cycle never ends. "Nothing Wrong" tells us that once felt, love can rarely be escaped. It will always haunt you and no matter how hard you try, there's no way out.

Directed by filmmaker Jorel Lising, who does a marvelous job given that this is his first foray into music videos, go on a feels trip by hitting the play button below:

Stellar Collaborative Interpretative Performance Video by Lustbass, Chloe Chotrani and Jude Figuerres

In the rushed pacing of our daily lives, we often forget to take it slow and simply be. Just think of the advancements in technology that happen every millisecond or the hasty strides of people in their day-to-day hustle. This is what Chloe Chotrani attempts to explain with her movements (or more specifically, her hands) in the Distant Early Warning music video. Unlike usual interpretative dance pieces where the dancer's motion is derived from music, for this collaboration, the process was reversed. Here, Chloe's movements are translated into Lustbass' soundscapes, with his suave and soulful beats mimicking her graceful kinesthetic dialogue--encapsulating the art of non-verbal communication. Jude Figuerres makes sure to capture it all with his stylistic visuals, with Boombee Bartolome bringing the performace art masterpiece to new heights with her stunning makeup. Wednesday debuts its Farewell collection with "Farewell 1"

Love and heartbreak aren't simple matters. More often than not, they're convoluted and multi-faceted, which might explain why they've been the subject of many an artist. However, this usually begs the question: how do you accurately put to art such a thing?

For local brand Wednesday, it's with style. Blending its minimalist lineart design with hints of pop culture, its Farewell 1 shirts are a subtle, yet insightful look into the workings of love and relationships. And with a powerful photoshoot to boot - detailing the deconstruction of a couple due to their differences - it drives the point home even further. For more details, check out Wednesday's Facebook page and Instagram account.

Eggboy releases Spotlight Effect for his Newest EP

Six years after his last release Strange Odyssey, Eggboy finally returns with his new EP entitled Spotlight Effect. Diego Mapa, the man behind the electro-pop alias, explains that he initially wanted to release the EP with the title “Lost Tapes,” as it included his unreleased tracks. After reimagining the tracks, updating lyrics and making new beats along the way, Eggboy observes that the process “was like jamming with my younger self.” He christened the finished EP “Spotlight Effect,” after the psychological phenomenon of people feeling that they are more noticed than they actually are. People from different scenes converge in Makati courtesy of KLTRD

Local streetwear label KLTRD successfully launched their Midyear Collection last July 2 at Evangelista Street, Bangkal, Makati City. And true to their pledge in helping build the local scene, their event definitely served as a festival for skaters, fixed gear riders, and other forms of free spirits. They organized Best Run and Best Trick categories for skateboarders and also an Alleycat Race and a Trackstand Contest for fixie riders. The night also served as the premier of Slowburn, a Stargate skate video. They then added more colors to the canvas courtesy of music performances headed by Allison Shore, Paincake Patrol, and Gnarrate. If you missed this block party, then you better stay tuned on the next event that KLTRD is cooking up. Click here for the purchase details of their apparel.

Squid 9 releases Future Present from his latest album Weld

Squid 9’s latest single Future Present sounds different from his previous releases, but that’s probably the point. In this single off his recently launched album Weld, Squid 9 (i.e. Raymund Marasigan of Sandwich, Eraserheads, and Cambio, among others) fuses different influences, from his own Kraken Modular release from 2004 to synth-pop reminiscent of the ‘80s. Vocals by Jesse Grinter does not come in until halfway through the track, giving the song enough time to warm up and build its momentum. Future Present sounds simple and far from the usual sound of electronic music, but packs enough spunk to guarantee some head-bobbing. Weld is expected to be available online soon. Meanwhile, listen to Future Present below:

Satchmi expands store in Megamall to make room for a Café

Satchmi has been providing us with the best of vinyl since 2012, but these were only made available online until they opened their first store in SM Megamall in 2014. From then, they expanded their selection of records, turntables, film cameras, magazines and other printed materials. Satchmi also became a destination for coffee lovers, as they served specialty coffee from EDSA BDG. Fast forward to today when Satchmi has gained enough traction for their brand, enough to give them a second branch (which is yet to open in UP Town Center) and a store expansion for their first one in Megamall. Last July 12, Satchmi launched their upgraded store to media and friends. The new space housed a wide selection of records, rolls of film, and other lifestyle products. To complete the Satchmi experience, they built a café that served sandwiches, soup and other comfort food. The only thing missing when one wants to spend the whole day at their space.

A Raw Depiction of the Local Skate Culture through the SLOWBURN Skate Film by Stargate

Coming straight out of Makati City, Stargate is a skate lifestyle brand that's run by a collective of local skaters. The main objective of Stargate is to showcase their love for skateboarding and everything else that comes with it, from the DIY culture up until the music and style influences it expresses. And to showcase their brand's philosophy even more, they worked with Aris Bantug to create a Skate Film to do just that.

SLOWBURN was birthed through Bantug and Stargate's collaboration, it is a Stargate skate video that reveals a myriad of ideas and influences that make up the brand and its community. It shows an unfiltered look into the growing Filipino skate culture. A poweful presentation of the process of skateboarding. It features various top local skaters such as; Jordy "JC" Barreyro, June "Junebag" Braga, Pao Mendoza, Rap Santos, Demi Cuevas and Jeff Gonzales. The 22-minute film is worth the watch if you're looking for an authentic digital experience of the modern skate culture.
