Ellen Adarna says "Fuck you"

Ellen Adarna has sprung from a little known model to a limelight shone celebrity rather quickly with the help of social media, specifically Instagram. No one will ever deny that she is at her prime with regards to her physique, although not all might like her. Adarna's provocative way of showcasing herself to the public and a couple of controversies here and there, has not given her an easy time. She is indeed very famous now, but fame always comes with something unpleasant. What keeps her doing what she does though is very inspiring, her strong character keeps her intact. Not all would love how she deals with everything, but at least she deals with it. Love her or hate her, we think she'll stay well-positioned under that light.

Brought to us by Rappler and Esquire, hear what Ellen Adarna has got to say through the video above. Also, if you want to read more about her, go to Rappler's Patricia Evangelista's article here.

"She knows what people say about her. Some of them think she’s inspiring and independent. The others, the people who don’t know her, say she’s tawdry, a slut, a flirt.

She doesn’t care, because she’s free, because she chooses to be free. The people who attack her don't know her. She likes thinking she’s a strong woman.

Her name is Ellen Adarna, and to everyone who calls her a whore, she says f___ you too. – Rappler.com"

Autotelic - Misteryoso (Official Music Video)

You probably noticed the rise of electronic infused pop rock in the music scene, international and local alike. However, there are a few who successfully adapt to the trend. Autotelic takes advantage of it and flawlessly creates a track that has the potential to be a pop-rock-electronic anthem. Having the lyrics in Filipino, it captures attention right from the start as they intro with engaging beats and tunes. Another great thing about the track is its clear and easy attachment of the words throughout the song, a good formula for having an LSS.

Sole Academy Exclusive: Nice Kicks x New Balance 1600 "Grand Anse"

Sole Academy is at it again, bringing to the local shores an exclusive collaboration between prominent brands. Nice Kicks is a sneaker website and store that progressed to be an influential voice to the sneaker community worldwide. Take that into account then add the notorious lifestyle running brand, New Balance, there's no surprise that a great-looking shoe will come out of their partnership. Nice Kicks founder, Matt Halfhill, explains the design of the shoe and how his life influenced it below.

"In 2000, Nice Kicks founder Matt Halfhill moved to the Caribbean island of Grenada, knowing little about his new home. Upon arrival he heard waves breaking on the beach below his family home – a beach that would become one of the most impactful places in his life. Inspired by this beach, the Nice Kicks X New Balance 1600 “Grand Anse” evokes the sight of nature, sounds of calypso rhythms and the touch of the soft white sand that makes Grand Anse the epicenter for the island culture of Grenada."

Looking to deconstruct the shoe and its materials? Let them do that for you below.

"The Nice Kicks X New Balance 1600 “Grand Anse” includes a royal blue and aqua pig suede and mesh upper representing the shallow water as you enter from the beach to the deeper blue water in the bay. White leather accents on the upper resemble the sails of boats and the sandy, light grey midsole symbolizes the sandy beach that makes Grand Anse one of the highest rated beaches in the Caribbean. Lastly, the style includes an ice rubber sole to represent the warm water of Grand Anse Bay. Additional details include a Nice Kicks signature full-reflective tongue; reflective laces; an ice rubber bottom; and, sea crystal hangtag."

The Nice Kicks x New Balance 1600 "Grand Anse" will be available at the Sole Academy Katipunan branch this Saturday, April 26, 2014. As announced, they only have 10 pairs for the shoe, so better get there early.

Nokia leaves, makes way for Microsoft Mobile

Before the growth of the smartphones and after the time of the bulky and heavy mobile phones, Nokia was there to amuse all of us with their monthly releases. Their phones were almost like clothes, as people got hooked. It was a fun ride but a very expensive one to some, I bet. Do you remember the superman-like 5110? How about the hip and trendy 3210? Then it's newer dwarf version, the 3310? Nokia will leave us with good memories. Now acting as Microsoft Mobile they are determined to catch up with the likes of Apple and Samsung. Let's see how this will pan out.

The Ilustrados Lookbook

The latest and newest brand to pop-up on our radars and in the local scene, The Ilustrados gives us a good look on what they're all about. Their first Lookbook entitled "Primero" presents a grip of fresh button-downs for the warmer weather. While it's hard to argue against a classic, long-sleeved oxford year round, The Ilustrados line keeps things lightweight and lighthearted - having these breezy, short-sleeved threads in a slew of bold prints and patterns. The Ilustratos are on Facebook so better check them out for the latest collection.
