In Aklan, one of the islands of Visayas, The Block Skate and Lifestyle Shop celebrates those who are in the four-wheeled fun-pursuit with their event last May 29. They named this celebration "Sakyi Ag Waska", the region's local term for "skate/ride and destroy". Organizing the event was also made possible with the help of their friends from Bombskwad skate crew. Local riders as well as skaters from nearby provinces, Roxas and Ilo-ilo, participated and showed their support. They started the day at 8AM by having a seven-kilometer Longboarding Push Race from Poblacion Numancia to Poblacion Kalibo. Then at 2PM, they started their skateboarding competition at Magsaysay Park. The categories for the skate event were Best Run Class A and Class B, along with a Best Trick Contest. The event was concluded once dusk fell by having an after-party at Highway 420. With The Block's initiative "to build a stronger relationship with other skaters and skate crews from the neighboring provinces", it is exciting to see how much their scene will grow and where it will take them.
