Gerilya and Team Manila Talk About the Local Street Art Scene

Photo and Full Story from Team Manila

Team Manila sat down with artist collective Gerilya to talk about the street art scene in Manila. Formed in 2008 by Fine Arts students Jano, Kube, and Zap, the collective’s initial project of producing comic books soon evolved into other projects including animation, exhibitions, and of course, street art. Ynears after their formation, Gerilya’s murals can now be found in the walls of Quezon City especially in their home turf, UP Diliman. With works revolving around Kultura, Kasaysayan, and Kasarinlan, Gerilya shares that “we felt it can be used as a weapon, that street art can also be more than just an image painted on a wall. That it can be the voice of the oppressed, that it can be a magnifying glass for social issues that needs attention.” Read the rest of the interview here.
