A couple of weeks ago we were able to taste Silvester Samonte's winning drink from this year's Philippine National Barista Championship. The White, Fat Geisha is probably the best cup of coffee we've had so far. We may not have a very extensive list of coffee drinks we have tried, but we can say that it was truly notable. Sly Samonte, the co-owner of El Union, brought his drink to Belle & Dragon to give a chance for the public to try a drink that's specially concocted for the competition, because usually only the judges and the maker are the ones who get to try them. Also, in winning this year's national championship, Sly will be the one who will get to represent the Philippines in the upcoming 2016 World Barista Championship in Dublin, Ireland. This momentous step into the world coffee culture and community will definitely hasten the progress and growth of the Philippine coffee culture even more.
