What is an Instameet?

A photo walk is simply the act of walking with a camera for the main purpose of taking photos of things that the photographer may find interesting. It is usually organized by groups, such as camera clubs, forums, etc.

An Instagram meet or “Instameet” is actually a photo walk, but its distinction comes from the equipment one uses. In an Instameet, phone cameras are used to take, as well as edit, photos to post on Instagram. This has been a constant activity of Instagram enthusiasts called Instagrammers, and it has made way for likeminded people to interact with each other and also grow the community and culture around Instagram.

To have a glimpse of how an Instameet looks like, view the gallery below featuring photos from the past Instameet organized by the people of InstameetPH. The great thing about an Instameet is its realtime element. Because Instagram is easy to use and instantaneous, it provides the participants a tool to share their photos online immediately. This element provides better interaction for participants and a feeling of authenticity within the goal of such gatherings, "to share their love for the craft of photography and the adventure it entails".

More photos from the past Instameet can be seen on Instagram if you search for the hashtag #wwim9_manila. And if you are joining our Purveyr x Our Awesome Planet Instameet: Bangkal Vintage Strip, follow it through #PurveyrOAPInstameet. To join us, register through this link.

Follow the story of 9 year-old Dani Lyons whose cancer has returned after three years of being in remission. She loses all of her hair to chemo.

But far from sitting back and letting her condition take over her, she goes on an imaginary quest to find her hair and in an attempt to understand why cancer is, meets several fantastical characters, including... Darth Cancer.

Told from a child's point of view, this brave new musical tackles themes such as life in the face of death, hope amidst despair, and the power of a child's imagination.

Spazzkid - Goodbye

Spazzkid has just released this new single from his upcoming EP, Promise. Goodbye is imaginable as a dreamy happy summer afternoon, a few seconds away from the sunset vanishing. It's electro euphoric vibe showcases the track's sentimentality and expresses its rather deep influences. Goodbye seems like a joyous song, albeit being about leaving someone special.

Desoriented Philippines

Desoriented Philippines is a collaboration project by Vans and Igor Bellido. It is their third project together to showcase a country through the culture of surfing via a short film and a magazine that boasts beautiful photography. For their third installment they featured the Philippines, after having Japan and Taiwan. It shows that this is a country for good surfing and adventure. The whole project is a heartwarming exhibit of the beauty of our land and our people. Though words are in Spanish, the imagery and visual presentation best exemplify what the project is all about.
