"Why is cancer?"
For The Sandbox Collective's maiden voyage, we will be mounting the Off-Broadway musical "Dani Girl," a musical good for the soul (directed by Toff de Venecia).
Follow the story of 9 year-old Dani Lyons whose cancer has returned after three years of being in remission. She loses all of her hair to chemo.
But far from sitting back and letting her condition take over her, she goes on an imaginary quest to find her hair and in an attempt to understand why cancer is, meets several fantastical characters, including... Darth Cancer.
Told from a child's point of view, this brave new musical tackles themes such as life in the face of death, hope amidst despair, and the power of a child's imagination.
