28 contenders battle their way to the Philippine Finals of Red Bull King of the Rock

The first official sporting event on Alcatraz was held back in 2010, when 64 players all from the West Coast of the United States went head-to-head in a one-on-one street ball tournament to be worthy of the title "King of the Rock." Three years later, the Red Bull King of the Rock Tournament went to different parts of the globe to find the top 64 players that will battle their way to the crown. Already on its sixth season, they find themselves in the Philippines with 28 players coming from main cities and provinces for the National Finals. Held last March 19 at what is probably the most fitting of places, Baluarte de Dilao located within the walls of Intramuros, Manila, the first local champion was named Robbie Herndon. The Filipino-American and former San Francisco State University NCAA Division II player will represent the Philippines at the Red Bull King of the Rock World Championships in Instanbul, Turkey this coming August.
