InstameetPH for the 9th Worldwide Instagram Meet

The Instagram community has seen a huge growth worldwide, and one thing that made it possible is its power to bring people together. Worldwide Instagram Meets have been a constant activity amongst Instagram enthusiasts. It's the phone version of the photo walk. This made way for likeminded people to interact with each other and also grow the community and culture around the application. And as a big part of their success, Instagram acknowledges these groups of people who use their application to share their lives and interests. Back in May 17 and 18, Instagram hosted the 9th Worldwide Instagram Meet, where groups from various countries and areas participated by hosting their own Instagram walks and meets. 

Here in the country, four young individuals who are aficionados of the application and the culture revolving around it, felt the need to propel the local Instagram community. They hosted #WWIM9_Manila last May 18, 2014 to represent our country to the world of Instagram. Jelito de Leon (@jelitodeleon), Marvin Conanan (@marvinconanan), Raniel Hernandez (@rayniyel) and Alexis Lim (@litratonijuan) made the walk accessible to most Metro Manila-based Instagramers by doing it in Makati City. It was a success as participants went to as much as 30 people, in contrary to the 10-15 that the organizers initially thought. Other countries and cities around the world are greatly represented and documented through their renowned Instagram users, that's what we should have too here in the country. We have the talent, we just need to acknowledge them more.

WIP Caps x The Zombettes Snapback

Local streetwear headwear brand, WIP Caps, releases another collaboration product. For this version, they partnered with the vicious drop-dead DJ duo, Sanya Smith and Ornusa Cadness, more known as The Zombettes. The collaboration product features their logo in front of a basic black snapback, with a type of "The Zombettes" above the snap closure, plus a hypnotic pattern on the under-brim. Its colorway completely expresses the duo's character. Get it first at any Complex Lifestyle Store by June 2, 2014.

WYD: Lourd de Veyra

WYD has recently brought back their renowned inspirational series. Before the team became a full production house, they were putting out inspirational mini-documentaries of influential people explaining and answering the question, "Why they do, what they do?". This is where they started and something that made them who they are today. Now, being backed up by more experience in the business, they give back by putting out another episode from their almost defunct series. Taking it a notch higher, they brought us acclaimed musician, news anchor, writer and renaissance man, Lourd de Veyra.

Chief Clothing "Tropical Country Native" Lookbook

Manila-based casual menswear brand, Chief Clothing has recently released an accompanying lookbook for their summer-inspired tees. The Tropical Country Native is a nod to our local men and women. It provides a sense of entitlement in being a native of our land. The design comes in two colors, green and yellow, for the pop of color for the summer season needs.

Brisom - Muted In Color

There has been a continuous burst of indie-pop-rock movement in the local music scene. From well-known international bands putting on local shows to numerous up-and-coming Philippine-based bands. In the brink of this trend, Brisom releases a track with that same feel. A smooth clear singing paired with pop-rock beats and a little electro-synth tunes to complete the ensemble. Megamall x Our Awesome Planet: Mega Food Tour

You can call it lucky or a little bit of torture as we became a part of Our Awesome Planet's Anton Diaz' best food tour to date, the Mega Food Tour. It comprises of 16 shops and restaurants around the SM Megamall's Fashion Hall, where the participants will consume food in every stop. In the tour we joined in though, we only got to visit 15 shops, but it's not like we need that last one too. Below is the official itinerary of the Mega Food Tour and some photos we took.

There will be two more Mega Food Tours that will happen soon, and what's great is it will be open to the public. All you have to do is eat in one of the restaurants that's part of the tour and post a photo on Instagram with the hashtag; #MegaFoodTour. @smmegamall will choose 20 lucky people for each tour, so there will be 40 participants all in all. It's a great experience with food, so better try your luck.

Purveyr Pop-Up Launch Recap by Deej Fabian

It's been almost a month since the Purveyr Pop-Up has launched, but people still have a confused look when the idea is mentioned. Most think the Pop-Up is a shop, but what it really is, is a physical space for local entities to commune and express themselves. To know more about the Pop-Up go here.

Save Me Hollywood - Happier This Way (Official Music Video)

Local punk-pop-alternative band, Save Me Hollywood has recently released the music video for their song Happier This Way. It stars their lead vocalist Julz Savard as she portrays a love-hate relationship between two lovers. The amazing setting and grit in the video makes the story very successful.
