See #180sec of Manila with Fashion Photographer Cenon Norial III

“Yung lugar na ‘to para siyang isang malaking mood board,” observes fashion photographer Cenon Norial III about Manila in Goethe Institut’s “180 Seconds City.” True to its name, #180sec paints a picture of a select city through the eyes of a local.

Directed by Kiri Dalena and produced by Sine Tres Marias, #180sec Manila begins with frames exposing the seemingly mundane life in the city and proceeds with following Cenon and his partner Mav Bernardo as they explore the local fashion and club scene. “Idol!” a bystander teases them as they walk the streets in their high-fashion garb, but the two proceed smilingly. After all, as Cenon says, “Responsibility ko na maipakita ko yung style ko kahit hindi ako nagta-trabaho.”

And with understanding, he concludes, “Mahirap yung Pilipinas, pero maganda talaga siya, kahit madumi, kahit magulo... inspiring.”

Reese Lansangan gets even with her Laptop Thief with an Original Track

When you’re an artist and you lose something you hold dear, what do you do? Make good art out of the loss, of course. That is exactly what Reese Lansangan did when a duo of thieves stole her 6-month old laptop. In signature Reese Lansangan fashion, she sings of her situation in her quirky, funny way. With her colorful studio as a backdrop, the infectious cheeriness of the whole song and the video masks less-than happy lyrics like “Did you have the time of your life while you were tricking me? Did you have a ball while you were deceiving me?” Everything’s good now, though, as Reese says herself. She has a new laptop now, and a cute, catchy song to boot.

Collab shares their brand's mission with the Good Intentions Collection

What began back in the 1980's has steadily garnered practitioners from around the world. Starting a streetwear/lifestyle label can somewhat be easy. What can separate those who know their thing from those who don't is the purpose and direction of a brand. Straight from Laguna, Collab lets you know more about their movement with their latest drop, the Good Intentions Collection. This drop offers two t-shirt designs. The "Bad Kid Good City" is in sports grey, with the Collab "X" logo on the front and an artwork printed at the back. The black "Progress" tee tells you more about Collab's motivation in striving despite facing hardships. Click here for the complete lookbook and purchase details.

Have a listen to Stranger, Earl of Manila's 3-Track debut EP

Earl of Manila's debut EP, Stranger, hits all the right notes on love and heartbreak. The tracklist consists of three songs, each with a story to tell. For instance, the first track, Catching Feelings is the musical equivalent of that magical moment when you catch yourself liking someone more than you should, entranced and transfixed by the other's presence and having constant butterflies in your stomach. Only One, meanwhile, quickly strays away from the latter's happy tune, shifting to a more emotional piece with a little more rap and a little more rawness. After all, he's on the receiving end of the heartache. Stranger, the titular track, rounds out the EP, which is reminiscent of old school Usher (remember his Burn days?). In the song, Earl laments about that "unfamiliar feeling" when the person who used to be your everything turns out to be just someone you used to know (I don't know you no more, he sings).

Also known as Earl Limjoco, the singer-songwriter's prowess for mixing the soul, pop, and R&B of the early 2000's with modern contemporary beats shines bright here. If anything, it deserves to have a place in your 'sawi' playlist. Have a listen to Earl of Manila's EP here:

Watch Clara Benin's Music Video for Closure

Clara Benin’s first ever original composition, Closure, released its official music video last July 6, 2016. This is one of the songs in her album, Human Eyes, which was released back in 2015. Clara wrote this single during her time in College where it became a big hit and gained popularity in the online community. She started playing in coffee shops to a small crowd of people and coincidentally enough, Closure’s MV revolves upon a small coffee shop setting with your typical "paasa" moments with someone you may or may not have a connection with. If you’ve ever gone through the same thing, Closure’s MV will definitely tug at your heart. If you want to find out more about Clara Benin,  you can visit her website here.

Purveyr Producer Project: Asch

Starting his music journey as early as high school, Asch found himself constantly being surrounded by people who also have passion for music. This luck had pushed him to pursue a career in music, particularly, in producing them. Being heavily influenced various genres like hip hop, blues, jazz, future and electronic music, a diverse sense of taste came about, and birthed who we know now as Asch.

Other than producing his own music, the 19-year-old producer is also teaching at the first ever electronic music school in the country, Cosmic Sonic Arts. We stumbled upon Asch's music through his collaboration track with renowned indie artist, Clara Benin. And ever since we have been seeing him more, in particular, in a video shared by his friend Similarobjects where he performs in Saguijo.

So it's just fitting to have him for the next Purveyr Producer Project, an exciting up-and-coming producer. The mixtape he made for us is a representation of the music he is currently into. A combination of modern tracks that fall under RnB, hip hop, electronic and more. Jive to the 30-minute mixtape below.

You can see and hear more from Asch here:

Sunnies Studios expands brand through the launch of Sunnies Specs

In three years, Sunnies Studios has gone from a small company with a single product line to a retail empire with sunglasses, prescription eyewear and a café in the works (but we'll talk about that when it opens). With a 200k+ strong cult following, Sunnies has managed to create outstanding brand image and identity to further their collection of highly affordable and high quality products. Last April, they came out with Sunnies Specs to cater to the growing demand of prescription eyewear, but it wasn't until recently that they launched it through an event.

The afternoon kicked off with a press conference, where owners Eric Dee Jr., Bea Soriano-Dee, Georgina Wilson and Martine Cajucom, talked about Sunnies' 360-degree branding. Eye exams also took place during the launch, where frames and prescription eyewear were made available to the press. Come 7pm, everyone had already changed to their outfits and dancing shoes ready to party: Sunnies style -- Picture That '70s Show but in 2016. Tagged as "the party where you meet your internet friends in real life," the Specs Party had influencers, celebrities and other notable personalities as guests, and we just know that everyone had a good time. After that flawlessly thrown house party, we're now more excited to see what Sunnies Studios has in store for the future. Visit #SpecsParty on Instagram to see photos from the event.
