Create more with Purveyrgram

We have been hard at work in developing the idea behind Purveyrgram. Since it was launched back in 2014, it was only deemed as an avenue to showcase creativity of Filipinos on Instagram. This year, we felt that we are not quite doing it right, or at least, we thought there was a more noble and valuable way of utilizing it. It is because of that reason why we took a three-month break from #Purveyrgram on our Purveyr Instagram page. We are glad however, that a lot of you are still using the hashtag even if we are not featuring any as of the moment, it just shows your dedication to creating.

Now, we are glad to be back, and more functional than ever. We are relaunching Purveyrgram not just to become another creative compilation account on Instagram, but we are relaunching it to become an avenue for creation, opportunity and collaboration. We have seen trends come and go. A few years ago, everyone was into minimalism, nowadays it is traveling and discovery. It is interesting to see how tastes and preferences have shifted, even output have become more and more diverse now. This is what we want to explore, a comprehensive look into the Filipino Visual Culture, and an ability to enrich and shape it to reach its optimal state. And not only on Instagram and photography, but also in other aspects of the visual culture which are; design, art, videography, and more.

Instagram is a great way to showcase works, but sometimes it's not enough just to be seen. The lack it has, we aim to satisfy. That is through opportunities and activities such as education, mentorship, creative sponsorships, collaboration, camaraderie, recognition and more. We are not establishing a talent agency of some sort. We do not want to manage you, but we would want to help you or at least provide you ways to grow your craft. In joining Purveyrgram, you will be part of a pool of Visual Makers who will receive exclusive opportunities, possibilities and perks.

To start it off, we are hosting a small contest for our members, where they can bring home a copy of Purveyr Magazine Issue 1 and a Herschel Supply Co. Duffel Bag. More details are sent to our exclusive members through email. So to join, all you have to do is accomplish the application form through this link. Please also visit and follow the Purveyrgram Instagram page to be constantly updated and to see our featured members. We have a lot of things planned, and we want you all to be a part of it. Visit the Purveyrgram page to read more about this initiative.

Purveyr Tours Common Room

Photos by Marvin Conanan

A front porch with a wooden swing and hanging bulbs will welcome you into every craft-lover's haven. Common Room boasts of a rustic industrial design with elements of wood, metal and concrete for display racks, tables and other shelves. The room is well-lit, with natural light coming in from their glass door. Common Room is home to 30+ local brands with products that range from gift wrappers and washi tapes, notebooks and post cards, even stickers and stamps -- and that's not even half of it. They have art supplies from The Craft Central, home decor and accessories from raw.tura and Tweed & Twine, cactus and other succulents from The Green House Project, and many more. Simply put, you have to pay their shop a visit to know more of what's in store.

325 Dela Rosa St., Katipunan Ave., Quezon City

Can you tell us how Common Room was created?
Every entrepreneur dreams of having their own shop someday. My sister and I just recently put up a kiosk in Alabang Town Center, so we were looking for a space northern part of the Metro. A space opened up in Katipunan so we took the chance.

Since Popjunklove is just a small brand and the space was too big, we decided to invite some of our friends from the arts and crafts community to join us. Many, like us, have been in business for a long time but have yet to put up a shop of their own. Many were game to the idea and said yes with hesitations. Since it's a first for many of us, it was really a leap of faith.

The community you have made is quite amazing, have you really planned to create such a tight-knit community with Common Room?
The arts and crafts community is already tight-knit to begin with so most of the partners who we tapped already know each other even before Common Room. We just got closer to each other more since this endeavor has forced us to really come together to make this new set up work. We all sincerely plugged our new home to our followers. All were consulted regarding major shop policies of Common Room.

Even our shop name was a result of voting. So while a shop that carries several brands is not new, what makes Common Room different is its collaborative nature. We wanted each partner to feel that it's really their home.

You have such a vast array of products available, can you briefly share the idea behind the mix of products in your store?
Since the shop is made up of around 50 brands, our array of products is bound to be diverse. Criteria
really is products should be locally made, designed or handmade. We have a few imported products but just for tools to cater to art enthusiasts and DIY-ers. Every time we invite, we just make sure that their products are not directly competing with another partner so we have a healthy mix of items.

How would you recommend a first-time customer to go about your store?
To go there when they have at least an hour to go around especially for first timers.

What can you say about the Filipino creators and artisans nowadays?
Filipino creators and artisans nowadays are more go getters. Maybe because they've seen others do it and succeed, they somehow have something to show naysayers or even themselves that this kind of life can work. The phrase starving artists may still be true but many know now that it's just a phase. That others were once starving too but eventually, made it after years of hardwork.

Your store is very unique, so some people might not easily get it, how do you summarize and explain what Common Room stands for?
Common Room is a common space where different local artists and crafters can display their work. It is a common space where artists and crafters can fail, learn and succeed together. It is a common space where enthusiasts can learn and dream too. A space that helps prove to all your naysayers that with hardwork, your dreams can come true.

adidas Originals launches the full-suede NMD_C1 and NMD_R1

adidas Originals brings their newest developments from the NMD line, a different variation of the low-cut NMD for women and a new mid-cut Chukka, both featuring suede uppers. The NMD_C1 comes in two colorways; standout red and classic black, with both having full-suede construction and the NMD signature Boost midsole with EVA inserts. It is a clear showcase of their design principles, incorporating NMD technology to contemporary styles and silhouettes. While the Chukka is made for men, the NMD_R1 is a model specially made for women. It takes the pioneer NMD silhouette's elements and refines it with using premium suede and peached jersey textile. A more classic and sophisticated version of the NMD is created through this new model, while still expressing the same everyday appeal. The NMD_R1 is available in burgundy and tonal black. Both models are now available in select adidas Originals retailers in the Philippines.

girl in transit debuts with Lovers In The Parking Lot

Reminiscent of a time when double standards and gender inequality were prevalent, when women's rights were just waiting to be realized in the hopes of traditional gender roles to finally be diminished -- The 80's defined women's position in society. Gaining equal rights and opportunities for women was the cause, with confident and empowered women as the effect. All this reflected in the new independent streetwear line for women, girl in transit.

girl in transit travels back to a time of feminism and women's strength with their first collection, Lovers In The Parking Lot. Inspired by a young girl's journey from one place to another, it presents women (in this case, girls) constantly moving and in-search of something. Lovers In The Parking Lot features shirts, sweaters, accessories and an outerwear piece, just in time for Spring/Summer '16. While the collection looks back at a time in the past, the pieces identify as modern with contemporary design and graphics. The Lovers In The Parking Lot lookbook was produced by boy in transit and an all-girl team consisting of musician Jess Connelly, photographer Kara Chung, stylist Reena Mesias, among others. The collection drops on March 27 over at boy in transit.
