Purveyr Producer Project: Abdel Aziz
at
24.9.15
In our opinion, mixtapes are one of the most basic things that make up the music culture. Although it seems like creating one requires less effort than actual music producing, we believe that it is also very important in a producer's musical life. Having to chase a career in the music industry means that one has a great deal of love and passion for it, and we believe that a mixtape can be the simplest form to express it. So in line with this and the ever-growing Philippine music scene, the Purveyr Producer Project is conceptualized to promote local talent and progressing musical preferences in line with music creation and curation. This project aims to showcase the skills of our local DJs and Producers with one of the simplest forms of music production out there, a mixtape. Moreover, it also aims to give a new way of consuming locally produced and curated music to Filipino music lovers.
So to kick-off the Purveyr Producer Project, we partnered with DJ and producer Abdel Aziz for this mixtape. If you enjoy chillout and house, we recommend you to have a listen of the mix by Abdel below.
We are open for suggestions and applications for the Purveyr Producer Project. Email us at purveyr@gmail.com if you're interested. We're looking forward to hear from you.

Swamp Monster The Grayscale Collection
at
24.9.15

Monochromatic, minimalistic, and modern: Cebu-based streetwear brand Swamp Monster reinvents the classic black-and-white palette with their newest clothing array The Grayscale Collection. Though this collection dabbles in the most basic of color schemes, Swamp Monster’s style game has never been this strong. One twist that would not go amiss is their unconventional black-on-black and white-on-white tee designs. Nonetheless, it’s hard to pick a favorite among the featured garments as they all rightfully represent what The Grayscale Collection is all about: simple and straightforward, and yet strong and sleek. The Grayscale Collection has been made available in a limited release since September 19th at TUF Barbershop, 19th Tee Shop, and Gabby’s Closet Cebu.

Justin de Guzman & m_boogs - Secret Lover
at
22.9.15
Sometimes, even a track released a month ago is still worth a feature. Justin de Guzman proves this out with "Secret Lover", an R&B-inspired track with m_boogs. It seems like a trend is happening, beatmakers and producers crossing over to hip-hop and R&B to bring a different flare to these classic genres. Justin de Guzman tries his hand again with this hybrid genre, a relaxed flow accompanied by house tunes to bring about a modern take on slow jams. While he perfectly sets the mood and tone, m_boogs creates substance, and completes the undeniable suave of "Secret Lover".

Queen Street Sessions: The Art of Street Barbering

Photos and Story from The Working Class
Part of being a gentleman these days is having the right grooming, and while some might head to the shop around the corner for a cut, the Queen Street Session was created to fly the guys from the Slick Barbers Co. from Manila to Cebu. The pop-up included full service from a skilled barber from the crew, the use of traditional trade tools, and some great locally made pomades. They set up shop at two influential spots: 6Twelve Indie and Nick’s Doodle Store. The event touched on good conversation, food, and beer. Not a bad way to spend your afternoon, wouldn’t you say? Check out more of how they kept Cebuanos pristine and proper with the link here by The Working Class.
Thousandfold, a Photography Concept Studio

Beyond your Instagram feed is a space
to see, touch, and experience contemporary photography in print and
among an active community. Thousandfold offers this exact kind of
space. Its public launch last September 3rd introduced Thousandfold
to the ever-expanding cultural sphere of the Philippines. A Photobook Library, a workshop
venue, and a small press studio in one – Thousandfold is the first
of its kind to grant photography enthusiasts opportunities, such as
programs and photography resources, which otherwise would not have
been available. Founder Wawi Navarroza kicked off the launch by
talking about Thousandfold's first beginnings and various offerings. It
then continued with interviews until it was time for the Photography
Focus session: a platform where photographers – pro and emerging – present and talk about each of their own works-in-progress. Brian
Sergio, Czar Kristoff, and Dennese Victoria were the featured artists
for the month of September. Thousandfold is located at Veterans
Center, Taguig City.
