Brain Gravy: A Solo Exhibition by Dustin Myers

California-born artist Dustin Myers will hold his first solo show this Sunday at Secret Fresh, Ronac Art Center. His works are dominantly inspired by aliens and a futuristic concept. Some kind of a psychedelic Dr. Seuss-style influence is also apparent like his "8-Eyed Kitty",used in the poster above. Dustin Myers uses a Flemish painting technique to create depth and allow for the true beauty of the work to emerge. Photographs fail to capture the true details of this kind of painting further suggesting that it is made to be seen in person. Come over on Sunday and see for yourself.

THE tv: Don't Sleep on your Dream

Visual producers, Adoborat and Deej Fabian collaborated for this short video project for THE. The video features Beat Bar donning pieces from THE's anniversary collection. The video is patterned along with the song which makes it very appealing. The sudden shifts and rewinds give it that unusual grit feel while still showcasing sexiness in a simple subtle way. Featuring one of the best independent local clothing brand out there, Proudrace. Samantha is fond of using women as her subject, where she exhibits their beauty in a very nice and fitting way. Sole Academy: Highs & Lows x Asics "Brick and Mortar" Pack

The fun continues as Sole Academy is set to drop another exclusive this coming September 21, together with the opening of their newest branch in the Alabang Town Center. Sole Academy treats us to another good-looking pair of sneakers - featuring the HAL x Asics "Brick and Mortar" Pack. The Australian brand teams up with Asics for this big collaboration to celebrate HAL's seventh year anniversary as a sneaker boutique and a supporter of Asics footwear. 

The pack consists of two pairs, the "Brick" sneaker comes in dominantly in Red and White, with materials of Duck Canvas, Nubuck, and Synthetic Nubuck; and the "Mortar" sneaker is in Grey, White and accents of Maroon, it's done with Duck Canvas, Suede, Nubuck and Synthetic Nubuck - both sneakers still features a ton of details around it.

The Sole Academy exclusive is set to be available on the 21st of September together with Sole Academy's branch opening in the Alabang Town Center. Raffle for rights to purchase the show will start at 6PM, and will be sold as a pack - besides the sneaker itself, it goes along with a HAL x Asics tee and socks. Coast Thru Life: Rest Assured

Coast Thru Life is a collective of surfing enthusiasts. Ran by Buji, Nikki and Jericho, they run a website to promote the culture they adore. As of the moment though, their blog is undergoing a renovation however they continue to present their lifestyles through the blog's social media pages; Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Above is the most recent video they have released, showcasing their road trip to Baler, Philippines. It's a sun-drenched relaxing affair to make you feel a little better in the gloomy days we are experiencing now.

Out of Scratch Presents: Hellz Bellz and GPPR

A number of US-based streetwear brand owners were in town this past week for Trilogy's re-launch "Back In The Hood" and a couple of them participated in a talk in front of a crop of Manila's young brand owners over at the Suez and Zapote Art Gallery in Makati. With an introduction by Illest creative director Mark Arcenal of what he learned in the talk which he himself attended, Out Of Scratch presents a closer look on Bam and Lanie Barcena--owners of GPPR and Hellz Bellz, respectively. Check out the video which contains their thoughts on the local creative scene and their advice to their fellow brand owners trying to make it big in the industry.
