Lost In The Philippines 2014

Another year of adventures has just ended for Renan Barco, a 20 –something designer who loves to travel. Renan collected video snippets from his every weekend getaways - for the whole of 2014. He used his GoPro Hero3 to document these adventures of his. Renan was able to discover 45 most breath-taking views and places all over the Philippines in just a year. From the untouched beaches to the summit of Mt. Apo. Surely, nothing beats experiencing new places and even meeting new people. These trips was just incredible and clearly showed his thrill for adventure in this almost 4 – minute video below:

Adidas Originals x American Dad Stan Smith

The Adidas Stan Smith had a monumental year last year with heaps of releases and collaborations with different artists and brands. One of the more interesting ones to drop was this tie-up with the animated series "American Dad". The collaboration sees the tennis silhouette in its classic white and green colorway, only with the cartoon "Stan Smith" taking the place of his tennis legend namesake on the tongue, as well as special insole design. This collaboration is now available in limited quantities at Adidas Greenbelt 3.

Ryoku - Window Seat feat. Clara Benin

New in the local electronic scene, Ryoku has just released a magnificent track that features the serene-sounding singer, Clara Benin. This past year, we saw the sudden increase in number of local electronic producers, and we're sure it won't slow down any time soon. Ryoku finds a very appealing niche in this track, taking electronic music to its more mellow and sentimental element. "Window Seat" evokes a cool feeling inside, while tapping a carefree sentiment. It's a delightful gloomy sundown track while with someone you care about, at the window seat.

Purveyr Instagramer: Maj Veloso

Instagram has become a powerful tool for one to freely express themselves through beautifully snapped photos and well thought of captions. It is a simple way to capture and share special moments, to see the world through the eyes of others, and to allow its users to experience other people's lives through photos as they happen. Because of this, we decided to do a monthly feature to showcase our favorite Filipino Instagrammers.

The #PurveyrInstagrammer for the month of January is Maj Veloso.

"My name is Maj Veloso. I am 21 years old. I love adventures, sneakers, and exploring new things. I am also a Co-Founder of Team Streetwear Philippines."

Minimalism graces Maj's Instagram feed as her photos are composed mainly of white tones and black accents, or vice versa. This gives her feed a very clean look that attracts a lot of Instagram users, and streetwear advocates alike, since her photos are mostly of different streetwear brands. It is undeniable that her passion is in streetwear as she co-founded Team Streetwear Philippines, which features local streetwear brands in the Philippines. Through this, they aim to make the local streetwear game big in the country.

We asked Maj about her love for Instagram, and here's what she has to say.

How long have you been using Instagram and what made you decide to give more effort in it?
I made my account last 2011, and became active in 2012. It all started with traveling, food, fashion, and sneakers.

How would you describe your approach (style) to photography?
My current photography style is based on minimal designs combined with the things that I love.

What are your usual subjects?
Definitely sneakers and streetwear, with a side of fun, food, and art.

What makes for a good Instagram shot?
Lighting and minimal filters on your photo definitely make a good Instagram shot.

What’s the most unusual thing you’ve done for an Instagram photo?
I had to jump so many times just to have a perfect picture of me on air. It drained me. Haha!

Are your photos on Instagram solely taken from your phone, or do you use other devices, such as SLRs, digital cameras, etc? Do you think the equipment one uses is a big factor in producing stunning Instagram posts?
95% of my photos are taken via iPhone. I use my DSLR for blog posts. Equipment does not really matter if I'll be posting it on Instagram. It's all about the angle and lighting (in my honest opinion).

What inspires you? And how does it influence your passion for photography?

Streetwear inspires me, and I would like to spread the game throughout the country. It's the main reason why I created our community. I also want to influence our fellow Filipinos with the things I love by showing it through photography.

People/usernames who spam you, and grab photos without credit or consent.

What is Instagram for you?
Instagram actually inspires people to have more stylish and creative shots. It's a social network where you could discover photos, meet new people, express art, adventure, and style through photography.

Salad Day "Sprinkle Magic" Collection

The ultra-eccentric local fashion brand, Salad Day has recently released their latest collection dubbed "Sprinkle Magic". Like coming out straight of a little girl's pink doll dreams, Salad Day brings forth another exotic collection. The pieces take form in a very pink manner, which is not surprising. However, even though there's a permanent attachment of "cute" to the color pink, Salad Day successfully makes its pieces feel sophisticated. Now, it's not about just wearing something cute, it's about bursting out in attitude, a fabulous cool in some sense. Besides, only the genuinely confident and fashionable can pull off glamour in a very playful way. Salad Day defines the fine line between trying to be fashionable to being bona fide stylish. Neon Island "Holly Daze" Holiday 2014 Lookbook

Holiday isn't over yet! Neon Island, a brand that embodies locality through hand drawn prints, released their holiday 2014 collection entitled "Holly Daze". The collection expresses a festive feel of the season. Consisted are classic and timeless pieces such as flared trousers, cropped tops, pencil skirts and other more. The clash of pastels and chromatic colors surely brought this collection an identity of its own that can put a bang in every outfit. Neon Island's pop up space can be visited at the SOMA stores, Green Sun Bldg.

Submanic Skateboards 2014 Tour

Submanic Skateboards of Cebu wraps up the recently concluded year with the release of Submanic Skateboards 2014 Tour video last Christmas. Their latest audio-visual offering is a documentation of the moves they made last year. It features the video clips they stacked on their trips to Manila, Cebu, Camotes Island, Minglanilla, & Danao along with their sessions at local skateparks Oponside, Melrose Cebu, Visioneri, and Emporium. Witness JM Ocana, CL Paje, Daryl Vercide, James Tabar, and new addition Jemath Libre handle their business and show us how fun and gnarly living a skate life is.
