Whang Od: The Kalinga Tattoo Maker

Tattoos have created a huge culture since it started to be known as a way to express oneself, which also became an expression of art. However, where did it all really start? One way to know is to converse with the oldest traditional tattoo maker in the country. Whang Od's tattoo shop, that doubles as her house, is already known to be a tourist destination, more so to tattoo enthusiasts. Whang Od is the last Kalinga Tattoo Maker to date, but we're hoping she would teach the craft to ensure the continuity of this practice. The Artisan Collection VII

The Artisan took a short break after releasing their comeback collection last year. We all saw their drastic transition from having a sophisticated menswear aesthetic to dark refined streetwear. It's a surprise to many, but being an established pioneering independent clothing brand it was not that hard to accept and understand. However, even with the shift of influences and design, The Artisan still kept their progressive creative touch intact. More seen and noticeable in their recently released Collection VII. Adidas Element Refine Tricot

The Adidas sneaker game has continued to turn it up and following the success of their ZX series and ZX Flux series successes; they've come out with something that would perfectly fit your everyday sneaker rotation - the Adidas Element Refine Tricot. Look no further as this sneaker adheres to the ethos 'Less is More' and takes heavy influence from the Adidas' Primeknit paradigm in which minimal is key - simple yet attractive. The series is found with five versatile colorways for the men's and two for all the women out there. The sneaker is composed of a breathable mesh upper and has full support of the natural movement of the foot with an integrated sockliner and high-abrasion EVA outsole. These are set to be the in-sneaker and don't be surprised if you see these popping from left to right. Sole Academy got first dibs on these a couple of weeks back and local Adidas retail shops should be filling their shelves up soon.

The Kunebreh boys of Batangas provide a preview as they stack clips for their upcoming skate video, "We Skate Funkytown". Directed by Fuwowoy, this crew definitely knows how to have fun as they hype it up with their second trailer for their project. Catch a glimpse of Jonathan "Otie" Tipan, Sheperd, Jonathan "Hydro" Ramiro, Francis "Watong" Perce, JR Abu and the rest of the crew put in the work as they creep closer to the premiere night this October.

A few local Instagrammers from Laoag, Ilocos Norte have met last July 26, 2014 to do their first Instameet. It's amazing how a mere phone application such as the Instagram can bring together likeminded people and produce such amazing photos. What's even more inspiring is the fact that you will get to experience and see a place through different eyes and perspectives. Let's just say that the last Instameet we hosted looks completely different from this, not only because the place is different but also because the Instagrammers value minimalism in photography a lot. Independent skate filmer VJ Chua is out on the streets again stacking clips for his upcoming project, "Goodstuff". Filled with skaters of different styles, Dondon Villela, Jundin Santos, Jeff Gonzales Rasheed Al Rasheed, Kenneth Evangelista, and Jay Villarosa will bring the goods on this one. Also expect a whole lot of montage from the crew's homies to sprinkle more fun.
